BJ's journey in health began in 1994. Originally a massage therapist and gym instructor he worked as an Osteopathic assistant and football trainer. He became inspired by Osteopathic philosophy and pursued study in Osteopathy graduating from RMIT in 2000. On completion he worked as a locum in both Australia and New Zealand while lecturing in clinical anatomy in relation to manual therapy.
After nearly 3 years as an associate in the ACT, he established Canberra City Osteopathy (CCO) in 2005, now one of Australia's largest osteopathic clinics that currently employ's 8 Osteopaths, 2 Physiotherapists and 5 massage therapists. The role of the principal clinician and director inspired BJ to complete a Grad Cert in Clinical Education at UNSW, which he completed in 2007.
From 2005-2008 BJ was the ACT president of the Australian Osteopathic Association (AOA). From 2007-2010 he was deputy chair of the ACT Osteopaths registration board. During 2008-2010, BJ was a board member of the Australian And New Zealand Osteopathic Council (ANZOC).
BJ's time as National President of the AOA (2008-2010) was a time of evolutional change for the AOA. During this time, the AOA: Engaged a lobbyist, developed submission to government, established a risk assessment group, created constitutional reform, and lifted the professional presentation and engagement of the AOA to its members and stakeholders, to name a few.
BJ is actively involved in the teaching and learning of his colleagues and staff and encourages an environment of teamwork and professional support at CCO. BJ acknowledges, welcomes and nurtures a diversity of styles and strengths in his employees and associates both clinically and personally throughout their journeys at CCO, whether they be a new graduate of experienced Osteopath.
