Appointments
To make an appointment, please give the reception team a call on 02 6247 0733.
Do I need a referral?
No, Osteopaths are trained to be Primary Care Practitioners and therefore a referral from your Doctor is not required. Your Osteopath may need to liaise with your GP regarding your situation however your permission will always be obtained before this occurs.
What should I bring?
If you have downloaded the Initial Consultation Form, please fill it in and bring it along with you to your first appointment. If not, it's a good idea to arrive 10mins early to allow time to fill in the form before your appointment begins.
If you have any x-rays, scans or MRI films/reports bring them along to your first appointment.
What can I expect?
At your first appointment your Osteopath will ask you about your health and medical history. They will also take a detailed history of your current condition or complaint. This information is very important and ensures that a safe and effective treatment plan can be developed to address your individual needs.
You may be asked to remove some of your clothing to allow assessment of your posture and body mechanics. Gowns are provided for each appointment.
Your Osteopath will then examine you. This may involve testing the actions and/or strength of different body parts and palpation (using the hands to feel) to help identify the problem area/s.
Your Osteopath may recommend that you have some x-rays or other investigations however this is not done for every person and will only be recommended if your situation requires it.
What does treatment involve?
Osteopaths use a wide variety of hands on techniques to treat the body. Treatment may consist of stretching, soft tissue work, joint manipulation, and fascial techniques among others.
Sometimes exercises or stretches may be given for you to complete at home or work. You may also be advised on strategies to help reduce the strain on your body at work and home. This may include suggestions regarding lifestyle or environmental factors which may be impacting on your condition.
Cancellation policy
We ask for 4 hours notice if cancelling or re-scheduling an appointment. Cancellations with less than 4 hours notice or non-attendance for a scheduled appointment may result in the full appointment fee being charged.
